A VIGIL took place outside the British embassy in Dublin last night to protest at the continued imprisonment in England of Armagh man, Mr Danny McNamee, from Crossmaglen.

He is serving his eleventh Christmas in prison, for a crime of which he claims to be innocent. In 1987, at the Old Bailey in London, he was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment on one count of conspiracy to cause explosions. His application for leave to appeal was rejected by Lord Chief Justice Lane in 1991.

Last night a letter was handed in to the British ambassador, requesting her assistance in having Mr McNamee's case re-opened.
