The US embassy has said there is "no proposal" for President George Bush to visit Lucan House, the Co Dublin residence of the Italian ambassador, during his visit to the State in June.
The embassy issued a statement yesterday after Green Party TD Mr Paul Gogarty raised concerns that the area could face a security threat if such a visit was on President Bush's agenda during his short stay for an EU-US summit in Dublin on June 25th.
"There is no proposal for President Bush to visit Lucan during his June trip to Ireland," the statement said.
"No decisions have been made yet on the President's itinerary.
"Media speculation on this subject appears to be based on a recent inaccurate article in a Chicago newspaper.
"This article misquoted comments made by James C. Kenny, US ambassador to Ireland, during his trip to the US for St Patrick's Day."
The alleged comments were reported in a column by Michael Sneed in the Chicago Sun Times earlier this week.
