Eight years after he pulled out suffering from “exhaustion, complicated by other factors”, rap superstar Eminem will finally get to play Slane Castle next summer.

It will be the first time that Slane has held two shows by different artists in the same year. Eminem (40), the biggest-selling artist of the Noughties, will headline the venue on Saturday, August 17th . Bon Jovi have already been confirmed for the venue on June 15th.

Eminem cancelled his Anger Management European tour just a month before he was due to headline a sold-out concert at Slane in 2005.

The cancellation led to a court case involving promoter MCD and three insurance companies. MCD claimed the cancellation cost it some €2.1 million.

Eminem made his peace with MCD long ago and headlined Oxegen two years ago.

The 2005 cancellation infuriated Lord Henry Mountcharles, who found out through a newswire report that the rapper was pulling the plug on his European tour and, by extension, the Slane Castle concert.

Tickets for €79.50 including booking fee go on sale at 9am next Wednesday.
