An interim injunction preventing the suspension of an employee of the Scottish Provident Assurance Company has been granted by the High Court. Mr Martin Murray, assistant general manager (sales and development), secured the injunction against the Scottish Provident Assurance Company, Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin. The injunction restrains the company from purporting to suspend Mr Murray with effect from November 13th. It also means the man must be treated as an employee. Counsel for Mr Murray, Mr Colm Allen SC, said it appeared from correspondence in the case that the basis for his client's suspension was alleged interference with an internal inquiry. But a letter from the chief executive to his client on September 12th showed no concern and congratulated him on his work. His client, he believed, had been suspended on a false premise. Mr Justice O'Sullivan granted the interim injunction until next Monday.
