Legal action is to be dropped against prison staff in Northern Ireland as part of a deal hammered out with the Northern Ireland Office to avert a UK-wide strike.
The Prison Officers' Association in the North has also called off the threat of future industrial action at Maghaberry Prison, near Lisburn, Co Antrim, where loyalists have been involved in violent protests.
The British government had been granted a High Court injunction to prevent more industrial action by up to 1,400 officers.
The POA had been ordered to pay the costs of police officers being called into Maghaberry last October when prison staff staged two days of industrial action.
However under the terms of the agreement, reached in London last night, all legal action against the POA is to be terminated.
The POA has also agreed to lift its threat of more strikes.
