AN Englishman died due to swelling of the brain caused by a fractured skull during a visit to Dublin, Prof John Harbison, the State Pathologist, told an inquest yesterday.

Mr Francis Tomlinson (42), a father of three, of Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire, was in Dublin with an English "stag" party when he was fatally injured at Jurys Inn, Custom House Quay, on April 20th.

Insp Oliver Hanly of Store Street Garda station sought an adjournment in the inquest as criminal proceedings were being considered. The City Coroner, Dr Brian Farrell, adjourned until October 16th.
