THE REVENUE Commissioners have secured a court order winding up a hotel firm in the west over failure to pay a debt of about €500,000.

Ms Justice Mary Laffoy made the order in relation to West County Hotel (Ennis) Ltd, with a registered address at Clare Road, Ennis, after being told it is insolvent and unable to pay its debts. The company was incorporated in 1975 to carry on the business of a hotel, restaurant, cafe and caravan site.

Earlier, Mark O’Mahoney, for the Revenue, said it had served the company with a demand for payment within 21 days of €509,860 for unpaid VAT, PRSI and corporate tax. That demand had not been satisfied and the Revenue was seeking an order for the company to be wound up.

The Revenue application was unopposed.

The judge also ordered the directors of the company – Michael Lynch and Michael B Lynch, both with an address at Clare Road, Ennis, and Paul Talbot, Ridgeview, Windgates, Bray, Co Wicklow – to provide a statement of affairs. The matter was made returnable to a sitting of the High Court examiner’s list next month.
