Drivers in Dublin face new traffic restrictions around city quays today to make way for the Smart Travel plan that prioritises services for public transport users, pedestrians and cyclists.
The first of the changes include the introduction of a permanent right turn ban from Custom House Quay to Talbot Memorial Bridge.
The ban applies to all vehicles and is effective from 10.30am today.
Dublin City Council is introducing the changes to cater for the new Rosie Hackett public transport bridge, which will give priority access to buses with a contra flow lane.
Council will officially name the bridge on May 20th, which will become operational the following day to cyclists, pedestrians, buses and from 2017, the Luas Cross City.
The Smart Travel plan was created to improve public transport, cycling and walking facilities in the area.
