Black ice warning as dangerous roads reported across country

AA Roadwatch and OEP urge care as ice creates poor driving conditions

Dangerous road conditions have been reported this morning due to ice. Conditions are especially poor in Co Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, and Roscommon, where there have been reports of black ice. Ice and frost is also causing difficulties in Co Galway, Wicklow, Westmeath, Meath, Offaly, Monaghan, Laois, Louth and Cavan.

AA Roadwatch said black ice was a particular issue on Co Roscommon's secondary roads, and around Ballymote, Co Sligo. Snow and ice is also causing difficulties in Letterkenny, Ballybofey, Ballyshannon, Bundoran and Buncrana in Co Donegal.

AA Roadwatch urged motorists to drive with extreme care.
