Full Maynooth rail service resumes after ‘tragic incident’

Iarnród Éireann indicates delays remain but set to ease throughout Monday evening

Iarnród Éireann said full services have resumed following what the carrier called an “earlier tragic incident near Coolmine”.

Delays remain but will ease throughout the evening.

Maynooth services will now serve Coolmine Station following the incident.

Overcrowding

The company had previously advised commuters travelling on the Maynooth line not to go to Connolly Station due to overcrowding.

Dublin Bus were also accepting valid rail tickets.

The 4pm and 5.05pm Connolly-Sligo services were amalgamated.

Delays of up to 40 minutes were expected on services departing Heuston due to signalling problems near Kildare.
