A man in his 30s was hospitalised after he suffered head injuries when he fell off the cliff path at Howth Head in Co Dublin.

The Irish Coast Guard Cliff Rescue unit received a emergency call for help on Saturday afternoon after a man had fallen four metres down the cliff side near Drumleck Point.

The team worked with Dublin Fire Brigade paramedics and Howth lifeboat to evacuate the man on a spinal board to a waiting ambulance.

The man was breathing and conscious, and had suffered injuries to his head when he was found. He is being treated at Beaumont Hospital.

The Coast Guard said it wanted to remind people of the dangers of going away from the main path along Howth Head.

“By remaining on the path you get to enjoy the best views and keep yourself safe,” it said.
