Jerry Grant has been appointed managing director of Irish Water, replacing John Tierney.
Mr Tierney stepped down from Irish Water in April after three years at the helm.
Prior to joining Irish Water, Mr Tierney was Dublin city manager up to 2013 and worked for 36 years in local government.
Mr Tierney was paid a €200,000 annual salary when he was appointed by the former minister for the environment Phil Hogan.
Mr Grant has been Head of Asset Management with Irish Water since April 2013.
In this role he led the project to assess the condition and performance of all national water infrastructure assets, in order to support the implementation of a national investment plan on the basis of greatest need.
Mr Grant has served as spokesperson for Irish Water on a range of technical issues and on major infrastructure projects.
Ervia also confirmed the appointment of Cathal Marley as group finance director of Ervia, the parent company of Irish Water and Gas Networks Ireland.
Mr Marley has joined Ervia from ESB where he was head of group treasury and Investor Relations.
He has held a number of senior management and financial roles in the company and brings a depth of financial and commercial experience, including debt capital market and bank funding, financial operations, governance and risk management, in a regulated utility environment, to his new role.
Prior to ESB, Mr Marley worked with EY in Dublin and East: “The appointment of Jerry provides the strong leadership, detailed knowledge and experience that will guide Irish Water through the transition from establishment to fully operational phase as a state utility”.
