The south of the country will experience heavy rain and sleet tonight with snow on high ground in parts of Munster, according to Met Éireann.
The forecaster has predicted wet weather turning to sleet as a band of low pressure tracks along the south coast of the country through Munster and into Leinster.
“We’ll see the low pressure tracking eastwards, and after the sleet has passed there will be some clear spells in Munster leading to ground frost,” said forecaster Klara Finkele.
The northern half of the country will remain mainly dry with isolated showers and good clear spells.
Winds will be light, although stronger gusts will develop near south and southwest coasts. Temperatures will range between minus one and three degrees.
