The week is off to a wet start and widespread showers are forecast to affect all parts of the country on Monday and into Tuesday.
The inclement conditions are expected to clear later in the week with dry, bright spells set to dominate over Wednesday and Thursday.
Met Éireann said there would be some particularly heavy showers in the east and north of the country throughout Monday morning and afternoon.
Temperatures will remain relatively mild for this time of year at between 14 and 18 degrees, and parts of south may experience a period of sunshine on Monday before a further band of rain makes its way across the country later this evening.
A broadly similar story is developing for Tuesday, but the rain is not expected to be as heavy. High temperatures of up to 18 degrees will persist and seem likely to remain in double figures over Tuesday night.
The outlook changes for Wednesday when the murky early-week weather will give way to a drier, clearer spell.
Latest radar readings show little in the way of rain or clouds appearing over the course of Wednesday and Thursday, paving the way for some sunnier conditions although temperature values are not expected to be as high.
Lowest readings of between 4 and 5 degrees will occur overnight on Wednesday and Thursday in pockets of the north and midlands, and the wind will remain settled with a light, changeable breeze expected to persist.
