ESB prices set for substantial increase, reports

The average electricity bill is expected to increase by 15 per cent according to media reports.

A report in a Sunday newspaper says both ESB's domestic and business customers will face substantial increases in electricity prices.

It is understood that the increases will be announced by the Commissioner for Electricity Regulation, Mr Tom Reeves, in September.

An ESB spokesperson confirmed today that the company is currently undertaking a review of it’s tariffs but added that the review had not yet concluded.

The rise in electricity prices follows an increase last year of 9 per cent.
