A prisoner who escaped from custody as he was being taken to a detention centre in Dublin yesterday was found hiding a short time later on the rooftop of a house in the north inner city.
The 18-year-old youth was being taken to St Patrick's Institution after appearing at Tallaght District Court when he made his escape. He fled in handcuffs from a Garda van on arrival at the institution at about 1.40 p.m.
A short time later he was found hiding on the roof of a nearby house in Phibsborough and was returned to St Patrick's Institution.
The youth had been remanded in custody at Tallaght District Court charged with failing to appear in Court on a previous occasion. He is due in court again on April 3rd.
