EU finance ministers will this morning study the euro group's deficit-cutting accord ahead of talks aimed at resolving the savings tax row with Switzerland, Dutch Finance Minister Mr Hans Hoogervorst said.
"We will discuss this over breakfast with the other member states," Mr Hoogervorst said of last night's deal for countries to cut their deficits by at least 0.5 per cent of GDP a year.
Following the economic debate, ministers will examine ways to step up pressure on Switzerland to agree to the exchange of information on non-residents' savings accounts.
Some member states, including Luxembourg and Austria, are refusing to accept an EU savings tax until non-EU countries such as Switzerland and the US agree to equivalent measures.
