Brasilia - European Union and Mercosur officials opened a third round of trade talks in Brasilia yesterday by declaring their support for freer trade and greater political co-operation among nations in the two groups.
The Mercosur trading bloc, whose full members are Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, and the EU are exploring ways of liberalising trade between both economic blocs, to eventually create a free-trade zone containing some 575 million consumers.
