The euro fell against the dollar this morning after Luxembourg's Finance Minister Jean-Claude Juncker signalled concern over the US currency's steep fall.
The euro retreated from a record versus the US currency after Mr Juncker, who heads a group of counterparts from the euro area, told reporters he didn't like "the way things are developing" in the foreign-exchange markets.
The euro weakened to $1.5975 at 11.13 am in London, down from $1.5991 in New York yesterday, when it climbed to $1.6019, the highest since the currency's launch in 1999.
The euro was little changed at 164.68 yen. The dollar was little changed at 103.11. Sterling was at $1.9921 from $1.9954 and at 80.14 pence from 80.20 pence.
