Ireland got its third DG/ A1 EU appointment this week when Thomas Cranfield became the head of the Office of Publications. Cranfield, formerly deputy registrar at the European Court of Justice, will thus be staying on in Luxembourg. He joins our two other high flyers, David O'Sullivan and Catherine Day, giving Ireland a large proportion of the top Euro jobs.
Meanwhile, British Labour life peer Lord Stoddart is, along with many in this country, pursuing his campaign to stop someone else going to Luxembourg. He is unhappy with the British government's reply to his queries regarding the appointment of Hugh O'Flaherty to the EIB, and is tabling further questions.
