The euro zone can expect growth of "around two per cent" this year, the head of the Euro Group of finance ministers, Didier Reynders, said today.

He said he expected the European Commission to revise its growth forecast downward as well to two percent when it publishes revised figures next week.

A return to higher growth is possible "next year, and probably by the end of this year," said Mr Reynders, who as Belgian finance minister currently chairs the group of finance ministers from the 12-country euro zone.
