German inflation accelerated more than first estimated in February, according to data that could raise the euro zone inflation rate.
Germany's Federal Statistics Office said the February harmonised index of consumer prices rose 0.4 per cent on the month, not 0.3 per cent as originally reported, lifting annual inflation to 1.8 per cent from a preliminary 1.7 per cent.
In January, Germany's HICP fell 0.5 per cent on the month and was up 1.6 per cent year on year.
Economists at Barclays Capital said this week they expected wider euro zone inflation to be revised up to 2.1 per cent in February from a 2 per cent "flash" estimate on the grounds German inflation was likely to be revised higher.
