Euro zone annual inflation according to the monetary union index of consumer prices was 2.1 per cent in December unchanged from November, according to the final estimate compiled by the EU statistics office Eurostat.

The euro zone's trade surplus fell to €5.5 billion in November from a revised €9.6 billion in October and compared with a €0.2 billion deficit a year earlier, the EU statistics office Eurostat said.

Exports in November in the euro zone fell to €90 billion from a revised €96.4 billion in October and from €96.1 billion in November last year.

Euro zone imports fell to €84.5 billion from €86.8 billion in October and €96.3 billion in November last year.

Within the euro zone, consignments from one member state to another fell to €87.9 billion from a revised €90.5 billion in October and €95.3 billion in November last year.
