Some 100,000 people will attend Europe's biggest-ever free outdoor gig in Dublin tomorrow.
O2 In The Park will feature artists such as Charlotte Church, Lee Ryan from Blue, The Saw Doctors, Tabby, Noise Control and others.
The event, in the Phoenix Park is estimated to be worth €11.5 million to Dublin.
More than 500 crew, 20,000 feet of cable, 20 articulated lorries and three miles of fencing are being used in the construction of the stage and the preparation of the site. It is estimated that 90,000 bottles of water will be consumed during the day.
The gig kicks off at midday and ends at 7pm. It is an all-ticket affair, and all successful applicants should have received tickets by August 10th.
Elsewhere, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council expects more than 150,000 visitors to its Festival of World Cultures this weekend. Those attending the event have been told to use public transport where possible
Iarnród Éireann is running a Dart service for the weekend after cancelling upgrade works, and Dublin Bus is putting on special extra services to and from Dún Laoghaire.
More than 300 train services will operate to and from Dún Laoghaire throughout the weekend, with the last trains leaving the town between 11 and 12 midnight on Saturday and Sunday.
Dublin Bus are providing extra day and night services to bring visitors to and from the festival. A special Nitelink service will operate from Dún Laoghaire to the city centre, via Stillorgan and Donnybrook, at 12.30, 1.30 and 2.30am tonight and tomorrow, and at 12.30am and 2am on Sunday
Road Closures will be in operation in Dún Laoghaire on Queens Road, Newtownsmith and Park Road throughout the weekend, and access will be granted to residents only.
Artists from more than 50 countries will participate in 160 events to be held in 40 venues. Seventy per cent of the events are free to the public.
Outside the capital, a traffic management plan will be in operation at the weekend to facilitate the Fleadh Cheoil Na hÉireann in Letterkenny, Co Donegal. Road closures will take effect at 6pm this evening until 6am on Monday.
Passes will be available for residents affected and for essential deliveries to business premises. Gardaí have asked people to allow extra time to reach destinations.
In Galway, Gay Pride weekend kicked off yesterday. Beo Bar in the Warwick Hotel opens for a pre-pride opening party this afternoon. A number of events take place across the city over the weekend with the finale in Boo Radleys night Club at 10pm on Sunday.
Met Éireann has said tomorrow will be dry and bright in many areas with some sunny spells and top temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees. Saturday night will be mild but damp in places with a little patchy rain and drizzle. Sunday will be warm and muggy - but windy.
