FORMER world boxing champion Barry McGuigan could face a disqualification outside the ring. McGuigan (35) could be banned from acting as a company director along with his wife Sandra, following the collapse of Barrandra, a promotional company registered in Northern Ireland, with debts of £80,000.
An application to disbar the couple has been lodged in the High Court in Belfast by the Department of Economic Development.
The April 25th hearing is bound to revive bitter memories' of McGuigan's last appearance at the same venue. Then a jury ordered him to pay his former manager Barney Eastwood £450,000 after a bitter hearing.
The latest court action has been brought under the NI Companies Order which gives the court power to ban people from acting as directors for up to 15 years. Any ban would be confined to Northern Ireland.
