An Army bomb disposal team has made safe an improvised explosive device which was taken from a house in Co Kildare early this morning.
The Defence Forces were sent to a house in Broadford Village at about 1.55am following the discovery of the device.
The device, which was described as "viable" was made safe at the scene and removed. Its remains have been handed over to the gardaí.
This morning's incident is the 204th call out for the Army bomb disposal teams and the 42nd viable improvised explosive device made safe by the Defence Forces this year.
