More than £500,000 has been provided for Beaumont Hospital in Dublin by the Eastern Regional Health Authority to treat an additional 370 patients on its waiting lists. The extra funding will cover procedures to be carried out before the end of the year and will be in addition to patients already scheduled for treatment in the hospital.
The ERHA has also announced a pilot project aimed at establishing the supports older patients need to enable them to return home following treatment. The project will cover all patients admitted to Beaumont under the care of two consultant geriatricians over a 12-month period.
