Ankara - Turkey's Islamist Welfare Party has gained a further week to defend itself against legal charges of attempting to overturn the official secular order, the party leader and former prime minister, Mr Necmettin Erbakan, said yesterday. The chief prosecutor, Mr Vural Savas, has charged the party with plotting to impose Islamic religious law and said he was constitutionally bound to demand its closure.
