Readers' observations on nature.
In a sea cave near Annestown, Co Waterford, above the high tide mark, I saw at least 12 shrews running among the stones.
Brendan Dollard, Ashbourne, Co Meath
Shrews feed on insects and larvae and would have been foraging. It was probably a mother and her litter, but litter size is usually five to seven.
A mandarin drake has joined the mallards on the Dargle in Bray, Co Wicklow. He has bonded with a mallard duck and is very aggressive towards the larger mallard drakes.
Kevin Dodd, Bray, Co Wicklow
I watched two rooks copulating on a neighbour's TV aerial. The female was obviously receptive as in between they were engaged in touching beaks.
Stephen Colton, Dromore, Co Tyrone
I saw what seemed to be an otter swimming up the middle of the Liffey in Dublin, much to the annoyance of the seagulls which swooped on it each time it came to the surface.
Tom Hodson, Lucan, Co Dublin
Otters are regularly seen in the Liffey in the centre of town.
