I observed oystercatchers in the middle of a grassy roundabout. I was surprised to see them far from the sea.

In winter, oystercatchers sometimes move inland to grassy areas to probe for worms.
I came upon a lizard at the local beach recently, sunning itself. I don't remember lizards appearing this early.

A balmy, sunny day will draw lizards out of hibernation to warm up and forage for spiders and insects.
Since March 17th , a young, though well-feathered, blackbird has been camping in our garden. I have heard him chittering, and seen his parents drop down to feed him. So far he has survived very cold nights, and a few prowling cats. Is this not very early for young blackbirds?
