The FAI this afternoon confirmed it will make a joint bid to host the 2008 European Championships with Scotland if invited to do so by the Scots.
A successful joint bid, however, would depend on Stadium Ireland being built on time, since that would be one of the two Irish venues for matches. Lansdowne Road would be the other.
UEFA will accept applications up until February 28th.
Meanwhile, the FAI also confirmed today that Mick McCarthy’s men will face the United States in a friendly on April 17th. Argentina had originally been pencilled in for that date but are now unavailable.
