Jarlath Fallon has made himself available for Galway's All-Ireland qualifier against Westmeath on Saturday after resigning his post as a selector for the county.
The 1998 footballer of the year has not featured for the Tribesmen since Galway's championship exit at the hands of Donegal in 2003 and has acted as a selector since Peter Ford's appointment as manager two years ago.
But the 33-year-old, who helped Galway win All-Irelands in 1998 and 2001, has continued to play for club side Tuam Stars and his form this season has prompted a surprise return to the inter-county scene.
The veteran forward is expected to play some part at Pearse Park on Saturday as Galway, beaten by Mayo in the Connacht final, bid to kick-start their All-Ireland campaign.
