The new family law centre in Dublin planned by the Court Service will help preserve the dignity of people who have to seek redress through the court system, according to Ms Justice Denham.
It will consist of 10 courtrooms, consultation rooms, a video evidence room, a supervised childminding area, two cafes and two entrances and exits, she said. The Supreme Court judge, who is also a member of the Courts Service board, was introducing a video for the staff of the Courts Service on family law.
She said family members who sought court orders in response to family difficulties, including violence and the threat of violence, came in contact initially with the Courts Service staff.
"Court Service staff deal in a sensitive and impartial manner with people who come to the courts," she said.
The video will be used in training new staff working in the area of family law.
