A murdered sheep farmer's family today offered a £10,000 reward in a new bid to capture his killers.

Patrick Devine, 51, was shot several times at close range at his home near Claudy, Co Derry in September 2004.

Earlier that year his younger brother was seriously injured in a baseball bat attack which detectives believe was linked to the murder.

With the dead man's relatives still baffled by the killing, they have issued a new public appeal for help.

His sister, Marie McDaid said: "Whoever carried out this killing is clearly highly dangerous and we feel must be apprehended.

"We don't want another family to have to suffer the grief and heartbreak that we have suffered. "We, the Devine family come here today to offer a reward of £10,000 to anyone who comes forward with information that leads to the successful conviction of the people who murdered our brother and son Patrick Devine on Monday September 13, 2004."

Mr Devine's body was found at his home at Mullintill Road, several miles from Claudy.

Detectives want to know about his movements during the weekend before his body was found.

In February 2004 his brother had been assaulted by six masked men in the yard of his home near Claudy.

He was left with two broken arms, a broken leg, and could have died if he had not been discovered by a friend.
