THE FAMILY of 17-year-old Daniel McAnaspie have appealed to the public once again for information on his whereabouts amid growing anxiety over his safety.

Daniel, who went missing 18 days ago, was in State care at the time of his disappearance. He was last seen drinking in a house in a cul de sac on Whitestown Avenue, Blanchardstown, in the early hours of February 26th.

He is one of six siblings whose parents are dead. His sister, Catriona McAnaspie, said yesterday that Daniel was easily led and looked up to bigger boys in the neighbourhood. She asked anyone with any information to help bring Daniel home.

Daniel’s uncle, Keith McAnaspie, said the youth was a loving young boy, who looked about 15 rather than his 17 years. “If anybody knows anything . . . about his whereabouts, put yourselves in our shoes for just one minute and think,” he added.

Detectives working on the case fear something sinister may have happened to him. “We have serious concerns about Daniel’s welfare and are renewing our appeal,” said a Garda spokesman.

Garda sniffer-dog teams began searching open ground in parts of north Dublin last week.

Officers want to hear from people in the community in Finglas and Blanchardstown who may have information about Daniel’s disappearance. Anybody with information on the missing teenager can contact Blanchardstown Garda station on (01) 666-7000.
