The family of a Connemara teenager whose body was found on an isolated beach in 1998 have said that their grief has been magnified because they were informed this week that the trial relating to her death will not take place until May of next year.

The parents of Siobhan Hynes, 17 at the time of her death, have been told the trial will not be heard at the Central Criminal Court until May 7th, 2001 - 21/2 years after her death.

"It is adding to our pain enormously," said Mr Aindi Hynes. The body of the Leaving Certificate student from Leitir Mor, Co Galway, was found at Keeraunbeg, u Rua, Carraroe, on December 6th, 1998.

In February a Carraroe man, Mr John McDonagh (25), of The Demesne, was sent forward for trial on a charge of murdering Siobhan Hynes.
