The occupation of the EU Information office in Dublin by the Irish Farmers Association (IFA) may end later today if the EU agrees to increase the aid paid to farmers from £120 million to £180 million.
While there was silence from both the Irish Farmers Association (IFA) and the Department of Agriculture and Food, it was learned last night that the £60 million increase could end the dispute.
The IFA broke the deadlock at the weekend by proposing to the Government that it would be satisfied if all the payments were increased to a level where the 20,000 so called "losers" would receive the same amount of money they had been getting under the old scheme.
