FÁS training centres throughout the country are to receive €11 million in funding for equipment upgrades and refurbishment.

Centres in Dublin are to receive the most with over €2.6m earmarked for the county. FÁS centres in Carlow, Nenagh and Drogheda will get €600,000 while the centre at Shannon will receive €450,000 in funding. The centres at Limerick and Waterford will each get €750,000.

The Minister for Enterprise Micheál Martin said that the money would "provide valuable additional space in some centres, upgrade facilities at others and allow for the purchase of new equipment".

The Minister said that €1.6 million would be provided for new apprenticeship courses like carpentry and joinery, electrical, plumbing and motor.
