Rebellious members of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah party banded together today to run for parliament on a competing ticket, highlighting a split ahead of next month's polls.
The breakaway list, headed by jailed Fatah firebrand Marwan Barghouthi, was filed in time for the midnight deadline. Fatah officials said this was not the list approved by Abbas and his so-called "Old Guard", who were expected to register later.
