AN 18-year-old motorcyclist died in a road collision in Co Kildare yesterday

AN 18-year-old motorcyclist died in a road collision in Co Kildare yesterday. The man died after his motorcycle collided with a car at Kellystown Road, Leixlip, at 4.30pm.

He was later pronounced dead at Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown.

Nobody else was injured in the crash.

Earlier, a teenage cyclist who was seriously injured after his bicycle collided with a motorcycle in Co Tipperary on Thursday, died in hospital yesterday morning.

Alex Burke (15), from Abbey Meadows in Clonmel, sustained serious injuries in the collision on the Dungarvan Road at 5.45pm.

The motorcyclist was not seriously injured in the crash.

Separately, Anthony Bradshaw (35) from Rush, Co Dublin, died after he fell seven metres from a cliff at Loughshinny in north Dublin on Thursday.

In Australia, three Irish people have died in two separate incidents.

Two Irish men were killed in a road traffic collision near Cairns, Queensland on Thursday. There were three Irish men and one Briton in the car.

The third Irish man is in a serious but stable condition. The Department of Foreign Affair is providing consular assistance.

Separately, an Irish woman has died in an incident in Australia. The Department of Foreign Affairs was not able to confirm how the woman died but says it is also providing consular assistance to her family.
