A 72-year-old south Co Dublin man has been found guilty by a jury on 10 charges of raping his daughter on dates from 1978 to 1985. The jury at the Central Criminal Court took some five hours to reach a unanimous verdict on eight of the charges and a majority verdicts of 11 to one on the remaining two.
The jury found the man not guilty of three of the 18 charges on the indictment and failed to reach agreement on the five remaining counts.
Mr Justice O Caoimh sent the jury of eight women and four men to a hotel overnight and adjourned further consideration of the case until 10.30 a.m. today.
