The father of missing bank official Mr Trevor Deeley last night said he still believed his son is alive, as the second anniversary of his disappearance nears.
Mr Michael Deeley said he will never give up hope of finding his son alive and well.
The 22-year-old Kildare man went missing in the early hours of December 8th, 2001, after attending his Christmas party in Leeson Street.
His father said yesterday he believes his son may be suffering from amnesia after a fall on the stormy winter night.
He said: "The most plausible situation is that he fell and is suffering from amnesia. This is a common enough occurrence. It may be something like that.
"There is a situation called global amnesia and people can be in that position We believe that is the sort of situation Trevor is in. We believe he is out there and okay, and will return to us safe and well, and this is what we are working towards.
"We owe it to Trevor to carry it on. We have a very strong belief that he is okay."
His father, who is about to embark on a massive leaflet drop around Dublin city, said he wants people to keep an image of Trevor's happy face in their minds.
He told the Gerry Ryan Show: "He's an adorable fellow and never gave an ounce of trouble. From that point of view we owe it to him to do everything we can. We have no evidence that anything has happened to him. We would be very wrong just to give up on him.
"We have to cope. We all have gone back to our jobs. We have to cope with it on a daily, hourly, minutely basis."
He said the investigating officers have repeatedly told him not to give up hope of being reunited with Trevor.
He said: "The gardaí say never give up hope. This is what they continually tell me. I would like people to remain vigilant and to keep that vision and image of Trevor as a nice, happy young man in their thoughts and their prayers."
The young executive was last spotted by a CCTV camera walking towards Serpentine Avenue in the capital where he had an apartment in the early hours of the morning.
Gardaí carried out an extensive search of the area including searches of the Dodder and the Grand Canal but have never found any sign of the missing man.
