An investigation of black boxes has confirmed a faulty stabiliser caused the crash of a Russian jetliner that killed 14 people at the weekend.
"The plane stabiliser went awry just two seconds after the Ilyushin-86 took off from Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport on Sunday," said Mr Valery Chernov, chairman of the commission investigating the incident.
The widebodied plane was carrying no passengers as it took off for St Petersburg when it suddenly started climbing too steeply and fell onto woodland near the city.
Fourteen of the 16 people on board, all air crew, died. Two air hostesses, who had been in the rear of the plane, survived, one with only light injuries.
