Tennis:Title favourite Victoria Azarenka eased into the fourth round of the French Open today. The fourth seed proved too good for Roberta Vinci, dismissing the Italian 6-3 6-2 and encountering few problems.
An early break for Azarenka arrived in the fourth game of the match as she established a 3-1 lead. A second break of the 30th seed's serve soon followed before Azarenka showed her best and worst.
Despite a superb lob onto the baseline in the seventh game - one of the shots of the tournament so far - an awful volley into the net from Azarenka helped Vinci get one of the breaks back.
Never at her most convincing in the forecourt, Azarenka did, however, serve out the set at second time of asking, to love.
Any hopes Vinci had of a fightback were soon dispelled in the second set, Azarenka again gaining an early break of serve to open a 2-1 lead.
She pushed on from there to seal her place in the last 16, where she will meet either Kaia Kanepi or Ekaterina Makarova.
