Wimbledon - Men's Draw: Roger Federer will meet former champion Lleyton Hewitt after the pair made light work of their third round opponents at Wimbledon today.

Number one seed Federer successfully completed his first week by steaming past French challenger Marc Gicquel 6-3 6-3 6-1.

The Swiss needs four more victories next week to set a modern era record of six men's titles in a row and on today's showing is in no mood to let the opportunity slip.

He captured the first set with a booming ace and the second, after two breaks of serve, with a screaming forehand winner.

With the 53rd-ranked Gicquel completely out of his depth, the Swiss master sailed through the third with two breaks to claim his 62nd grasscourt victory in a row.

Hewitt, the 2002 champion, was made to work a little harder by Italian Simone Bolelli.

The Australian 20th seed breezed through the first two sets 6-1 6-3 but was taken to a tie-break in the third.

However, he made short of work of that, taking it 7-2 to close out victory.

Federer is looking forward to pitting his wits against another Wimbledon favourite and said: "It's a great challenge to play Lleyton, he is a former world number one and grand slam champion so it should be an exciting match."

Austrian Tomas Berdych, the 11th seed, saw his hopes ended at the third round stage by 22nd seed Fernando Verdasco.

Verdasco, from Spain, won two close-fought sets 6-4 6-4 before running away with the third 6-0 to claim the match.
