Soccer:Roger Federer had too much class for French wild card Maxime Teixeira as he moved into round three of the French Open. The Swiss maestro, whose only Roland Garros title came in 2009 when he completed his career Grand Slam, dominated Wednesday's clash as he posted a 6-3 6-0 6-2 triumph.

Teixeira offered some resistance in the early stages, breaking Federer after losing his own serve. He managed to get to 3-3 but Federer broke through in the eighth game and dominated from then on, winning 13 games in a row.

He swept through the second set to love and an early break in the third all but ended the contest.

Federer wrapped up victory in just 84 minutes as he booked a third-round meeting with Janko Tipsarevic, who lost one less game in beating Pere Riba.

The third seed said: "I had to keep my focus to start with because you never know what might happen and what he can produce. For one and a half sets you're really focused, then after that you can relax a little."

After Rafael Nadal's epic encounter with John Isner on Tuesday, Federer was happy to have his day's work finished by lunchtime.

"I'm very happy with these types of matches," he added. "I can practise more but now I'm really in the tournament, which is a good thing."

The Swiss knows all about Tipsarevic's qualities after needing five sets to get past him at the Australian Open in 2008.

Looking ahead to Friday's match, Federer added: "He's a dangerous player on the big courts against the big players. I'll have to be careful."

Teixeira declared himself happy with his performance, saying: "I really enjoyed it, even though this is a bit of a tough score.

"I played my match. Maybe he had doubts in the first set but it's not easy when the games go quickly. I did my best and I'm satisfied.''
