Shareholders of Yorkshire-based Severfield-Rowen are expected to approve the offer at a meeting at the end of October.

All 250 staff employed at the Ballinamallard factory will be retained. "All jobs are secure," according to managing director Ernie Fisher.

His brother, top rally driver Bertie Fisher, the then MD, his son Mark and daughter Emma, died in a helicopter crash in January 2001.

The company which was founded by his late father Tommy in a blacksmith's workshop, emerged to become one of the leading structural steel fabricators in Europe.

The portfolio of projects include Belfast's Odyssey Arena, Castlecourt shopping centre, and Waterfront Hall; a 15,000 tonne Bio Technology Campus in Dublin for Wyeth Medica, the major American Corporation, major facilities for Coca Cola and Intel as well as two factories for the Quinn Group.

Severfield-Rowen PLC confirmed it agreed to buy the company for about £90 million in cash and stock to extend its position in the UK and said the deal gave it a stronger presence in Ireland.

The company said Fisher Engineering's strong client base, robust order book and focus on good quality business made it an excellent fit.
