Ferrari sporting director Jean Todt insists refuelling should remain in Formula One despite Michael Schumacher's car catching fire during yesterday's Austrian Grand Prix.
The German's car caught fire during his first pit stop at the A1-Ring when petrol leaked from the nozzle and ignited on the hot bodywork.
Todt said: "Refuelling is part of Formula One now. But we have to understand what happened and improve to ensure it doesn't happen again. I am full of admiration for the safety that we have because you should remember that cars caught fire in the past even without refuelling."
Ferrari have launched an investigation into the incident with FIA, the sport's world governing body.
The fire was quickly extinguished by mechanics.
Schumacher went on to win the race.
