A host of cultural, music and food festivals are set to benefit from sunny weather this weekend with temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees forecast for tomorrow.
Festival of Africa is taking place in Cork city, featuring an ensemble of concerts, conferences, bazaars and workshops celebrating African music, goods, food and culture.
A fashion show highlighting the latest African designs for men and women and a sculpting workshop for students are among the highlights of the event.
A number of bands from the Congo, Mali, Sudan and South Africa will provide music, while the Camden Palace Hotel will host sample food from seven African nations over the weekend.
The Burren Slow Food Festival, running in Connemara this weekend, is sure to satisfy most tastebuds.
A slow food dinner, cookery demonstrations, a barbecue and a farmers market will be among the foodie events taking place.
In Dublin, DJs and bands will be converging on Drumcondra for the Rockin Road Festival.
The family event, in aid of St Josephs Centre for the Visually Impaired, will take place at Grace Park Road on Sunday.
Dublin Zoo will be hosting a variety of ‘self-guided trails’, tours and bird walks and talks on local and global biodiversity, our native species and wild habitats to mark National Bio-diversity day tomorrow.
At Fota Wildlife Park in Cork, experts will race against time tomorrow to see how many species can be recorded in a 24-hour period as part of a BioBlitz weekend.
A number of cycling races will also be taking place throughout the weekend including the Mizen Head to Malin Head Charity Cycle which begins tomorrow.
The Croí Charity Cycle will take place on Sunday departing from NUIG before heading onto Moycullen, Oughterard, Maam Cross, Maam Valley and Headford.
Meanwhile, more than 100 cyclists are expected to travel from Bray to Howth on the same day as part of the Coolmine Dublin Bay Cycle.
Staying with sport, racing will take place at Wexford Racecourse this evening. The first race is 5.15pm and the last race is at 8.45pm. Racing will also take place at The Curragh Racecourse tomorrow and Sunday.
Clare will play Waterford in the Munster GAA Football Senior Championship quarter final in Dungarvan on Sunday at 3pm, while Antrim will take on Tyrone in the Ulster GAA Football Senior Championship quarter final at Casement Park on the same day at 4pm.
There will be two Leinster GAA Football Senior Championship matches in Portlaoise on Sunday. Meath will play Offaly at 2pm and Louth will play Longford at 3.50pm.
