A Fianna Fáil councillor has been arrested by detectives investigating an alleged sexual assault on a teenage boy in a hotel in Co Kerry.
The 50-year-old man, who is not from Kerry but was visiting Killarney on business when the incident is alleged to have occurred, was arrested by gardaí on September 27th.
He was detained at Killarney Garda Station on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old hotel worker the night before.
Gardaí are understood to have questioned the councillor for five hours over the alleged incident before he was released without charge.
